8 Key Precautions for Using an Open Cup Flash Point Tester
Currently, the open cup flash point tester is a specialized instrument designed for measuring the flash point of oils. When operating the device, the following eight precautions must be carefully observed:
1√ Always power the instrument using an electrical outlet equipped with reliable grounding. During testing, the oil cup and surrounding areas become extremely hot, direct contact is strictly prohibited.
2√ Continuous supervision is required throughout the testing process. If combustion occurs after testing, promptly extinguish it by covering the oil cup with its lid. Note: the lid becomes extremely hot—do not touch it directly.
3√ Do not manually move or force the ignition sweeper arm, doing so may cause permanent damage to the instrument.
4√ As the instrument is equipped with an ignition system, it is strongly recommended to operate it inside a fume hood (without activating the exhaust fan) to avoid external airflow interference that could affect test accuracy.
5√ The temperature sensor is made of glass. Handle it with care and avoid any collision with other objects.
6√ Thoroughly clean the open cup after each sample change. Ensure that no foreign objects are placed between the open cup and the heater to maintain optimal heat conduction.
7√ Never press down, lift, or otherwise manipulate the test head manually. Likewise, avoid pushing or pulling the ignition rod by hand to prevent mechanical damage.
